When it comes to understanding the shadow self of an individual, one must refrain from having any biases or it then becomes a new shadow. Shadow is an imbalance to an inherited attribute you may possess. For example, if you are jealous you may struggle with self doubt whilst overtly admiring others to where you are placing them on pedestal. So, I like to think of a shadow as anything over the top or below the surface.
Everyone is a victim to something and it can therefore create shame, guilt, doubt, grief, anger, etc.
Identifying your shadows is step one. Step two is then making room or embracing your shadows. Think of your shadow as part of who you are because that is what it is. Once you can acknowledge your shadows as you do your lighter aspects, then you can ultimately love all aspects of yourself. When you have learned to embrace your shadows, you must take full responsibility for them. You must begin to work on healing those wounded parts of yourself so that you can be a more happier fulfilled version YOU.
